Artist's Description
"SANTORINI BLUE DOMED CHURCH - Mini Cityscape 06" by Mona Edulesco.
Miniature Palette Knife Oil Painting 20x20cm (8x8 inches) realized in the impasto technique. The original has been sold to an art collector from Bucharest, Romania. Prints are available for sale.
This modern impressionist painting is part of a series of cityscapes inspired by my recent trip to Greece. This one captures the view over the blue dome and the belfry of Agios Spyridonas church in Oia Village, Santorini. The church is dedicated to ‘Saint Spyridon’ who is honoured in both the Eastern and Western Christian traditions.
The first time I discovered the magic of Greece was in 1998… I went back in 2001 for my Erasmus architecture scholarship and I spent there almost a year. I traveled again to the Cyclades islands in the summer of 2017 to get more inspiration for my paintings and to enjoy those wonderful places.

About Mona Edulesco
Mona Edulesco is a Romanian painter and architect who resides in France and specializes in textured impasto palette knife oil paintings. I find myself a little short on words to describe this little giant. First of all, I envy the collector that bought it, congratulations on the sale. The composition and the adroit knife work is amazing. The tonal range is perfect and the variation of blues seems unlimited. A really fine piece of art.
