The project brought together several painters around the realization of a work representing the Terreaux square on the theme of the Festival of Lights. Each artist was invited to make a painting in his own style, representing the Square during the Festival of Lights.
THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS (French: Fete des Lumieres) in Lyon, France expresses gratitude toward Mary, mother of Jesus on December 8 of each year. This uniquely Lyonnaise tradition dictates that every house place candles along the outsides of all the windows to produce a spectacular effect throughout the streets.
With over 4 million tourists coming to Lyon for this event, the festival is probably one of the three biggest festive gatherings in the world in terms of attendance (after the Rio Carnival and Oktoberfest in Munich). The festival includes other activities based on light and usually lasts four days, with the peak of activity occurring on the 8th. The two main focal points of activity are typically the Basilica of Fourviere which is lit up in different colours, and the Place des Terreaux, which hosts a different light show each year.

Mona, it is too uncomfortable for me to receive the honour of your beautiful compliments without returning the visit though I am not able to be a frequent visitor as before. I notice seven new pieces since I last looked and have viewed each one. Of course ,as usual, they are ALL masterpieces. Again you have dazzled me with the lights that emerge from the beautiful dark and lively night that you have created.Rainy nights are never dreary in your artistic hands. In fact,I long to participate in them! Your paving stones sing with light and color and life. The crimson umbrellas,so happy! The buildings, superbly painted and as alive as the people gathered here. This is tremendous viewing!!! L/F
