This painting captures a view overlooking Paris rooftops bathed in the sunlight...
I was inspired to paint this scene by the beautiful view of Paris as seen from Centre Pompidou.
I often travel to Paris and I always find there my inspiration. It has a special magic for me and I hope you can feel it through my paintings...

I have always loved to approach my urban paintings in a myriad of ways. I enjoy stylizing architectural forms in various manners. This has always been one of my goals, even a preoccupation from the time I was studying at the school of architecture until the present. The versatility of oil pa...
Mona Edulesco is a Romanian painter and architect who resides in France and specializes in textured impasto palette knife oil paintings. It can be seen as a form of textural modern impressionism, as I use thick layers of oil paint to achieve a vibrant movement in my works. I am absolutely fascinated by the explosive thick...

Gorgeous vibrant colors and wonderful technique! I love the textures! I opened another window so I could put this side by side with your watercolor, and I love the contrasts. This style has more energy but the watercolor makes me want to sink into the picture, if that makes sense? They're both stunning! Amazing work! l/f!
Mona Edulesco replied:
Thank you so much for your lovely insightful comment dear Meg! Yes, it makes sense. I had this feeling too. Even the oil is very texured I think that in the watercolor etude I managed to create a more special depth. I really appreciate your fantastic support Meg!

Love the vivid color and the deep textures from your technique. Beautiful work and intriguing contrasts with the watercolor of the same perspective on this cityscape. Very cool! L/F
Mona Edulesco replied:
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Doug. I am glad you enjoyed both paintings and techniques. I like how you said...the "intriguing contrasts".. I often make a preliminary watercolor or ink sketch for my future oil paintings. However I never keep the composition identical. I love them to be unique. :)
