CONTEMPLATING THE AURORA - palette knife oil painting Mona Edulesco
Artist
Mona Edulesco
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
"Contemplating the Aurora" by Mona Edulesco.
Textural impressionist impasto palette knife oil painting on stretched canvas 14x22 cm (6"x9"). This miniature painting captures a beautiful laced Aurora Borealis reflecting into the mirror of a lake... Two lovers are contemplating the magic of the moment.
---------------------------
The original has been sold to an art collector from Glendale, CA - United States.
---------------------------
This work is part of a series of landscapes depicting the Northern Lights in my personal vision.
---------------------------
I realized this work in the impasto technique, with thick textures of oil paint applied with various palette knives. It was created on canvas, with the edges of the stretched canvas painted prussian blue. The painting arrives ready to hang, with framing optional.

I always enjoyed using the palette knife. Your strokes look so sure and placed just right. You have captured the movement of the light so beautifully. and the people in the foreground give a great feeling of dimensions, as do the brushstrokes in the sky. LF

Beautiful Work, Mona! I can feel the cool movement of the swirling Aurora, a dance imitating the two lovers within the heavens. A freedom of activity within defined achievement and evolving both in colour and expectation.:)
