ORIGINAL PALETTE KNIFE OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS /25x25 cm (10 x 10 inches) / 2015
I was inspired to paint this modern impressionist street scene when walking down the Rue du Boeuf in the Old Town of Lyon (Vieux Lyon). One of my favorite areas in Lyon, known for its wonderful examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.
The Rue du Boeuf is a 188-metre cobbled pedestrian street of the Vieux Lyon quarter, located in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon. Very representative of the Renaissance architecture of the neighborhood, it is lined only with old houses from the 16th or 17th century. The street belongs to the zone classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Lyon , traditionally spelt Lyons in English, is a city in east-central France in the Rhone-Alpes region, situated between Paris and Marseille. Etymologically it relates to the Celtic God Lugoves, Lugh as does Laon and Leiden. The residents of the city are called Lyonnais.
The city is known for its historical and architectural landmarks and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lyon was historically known as an important area for the production and weaving of silk and in modern times has developed a reputation as the capital of gastronomy in France. It has a significant role in the history of cinema due to Auguste and Louis Lumiere, who invented the cinematographe in Lyon. The city is also known for its famous light festival 'Fete des Lumieres' which occurs every 8 December and lasts for four days, earning Lyon the title of Capital of Lights. (wikipedia)

All of your art is absolutely amazing Mona... I love viewing it very much. ;-) My father was an oil painter like you... and he used pallet knives a lot in his work. I see you do as well. :-) I have one painting of his to my name and I photographed it and posted it here on FAA. It's in my "interesting" gallery and is called "First Snow" If you have time to view it that would be very nice. :-) He did a lot of landscapes and abstracts. He also had his own art studio near Colorado Springs... Manitou Springs to be exact. I never inherited his talents with a brush and knife... I guess mine must come with a camera. :-) Blessing to you and keep shining with your amazing art Mona.. ;-) Nick Oh... and of course I give your wonderful work of art a vote and a favorite of mine. :-)
